- 1 cup rice (I use basmati, jasmine, medium or long grain rice)
- 2 cups boiling hot water straight from the kettle

- Pour the rice and water in a medium sized saucepan.
- Put the lid on and bring to the boil.
- Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 12-14 minutes.
- Fluff the rice up with a spoon and serve.
