Pizza Scrolls
These pizza scrolls have become one of those “always requested” recipes in our house… the kind where you make one batch and they’re gone before they’ve even had a chance to cool.
It started as a quick “what can I make to feed the kids?” lunch and now it’s a regular in our rotation. The kids love them, they’re easy to prep ahead and I love that they work just as well for lunchboxes as they do for entertaining.
There’s just something about warm, cheesy pizza scrolls straight out of the oven that feels like a little win on a busy day.
They’ve become a go-to because they’re quick to prepare, freezer-friendly and so versatile. Keep them classic with ham and cheese, add salami for extra flavour or load them up with veggies for a simple vegetarian option.
Whether you’re packing lunchboxes, prepping party food or just need a reliable snack, these homemade pizza scrolls are guaranteed to disappear fast.

Pizza Scrolls
Ingredients
- 2 x Puff pastry sheets
- Sliced ham or salami cut into strips
- Grated cheese
- Tomato sauce
- Barbecue sauce
- Italian herbs
- Garlic granules
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200ºC and line two baking trays with baking paper. Place the puff pastry sheets on a chopping board to defrost.
- Squeeze 1-2 tablespoons of tomato sauce and barbecue sauce and spread evenly over each pastry sheet using the back of a spoon.
- Sprinkle Italian herbs and garlic granules evenly over the sauces.
- Scatter the sliced ham or salami and grated cheese over the pastry, ensuring an even distribution.
- Starting from one edge of the pastry, carefully peel back the blue plastic and roll the edge of the pastry over the filling. Continue rolling while peeling away the plastic, sealing the end with the sauce on the pastry.
- Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled pastry log into approximately 2 cm-thick pieces. For even scrolls, cut the log in half first, then divide each half into equal portions. Each log should make around 9 - 10 scrolls.
- Arrange the scrolls on the prepared baking trays, leaving space between each. Bake in the oven for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool on the tray for 5 minutes before serving.
- Preheat the air fryer to 200ºC.
- Place scrolls in the air fryer basket, ensuring they don’t touch. Cook for 8–12 minutes, depending on your air fryer model. Repeat with remaining scrolls until all are cooked.
Notes
Make-Ahead Tip: Follow steps 1–6, then rewrap the rolled pastry log in the blue plastic. Place in an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to bake. Cook as directed in step 7 when needed. This is a handy tip when preparing for a party.
