Pretzel Chocolate Bark

When it comes to Father’s Day, I always loved getting the kids involved in making something special and this Pretzel Chocolate Bark was always a hit.

The combination of sweet milk chocolate, crunchy pretzels, colourful M&Ms and fluffy marshmallows makes it fun to create and even more fun to eat.

It’s quick, no-bake and the perfect homemade gift for Dad, Grandad or the special father figure in your life. Wrap it up with a ribbon, and you’ve got a thoughtful (and delicious) treat made with love.

Ingredients

  • 150g milk chocolate melts
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (optional)
  • ¼ cup mini pretzels, broken into smaller pieces
  • ¼ cup M&Ms (red and green for Christmas, pastel for Easter, or classic colours)
  • ¼ cup mini marshmallows

Instructions

  1. Line a baking tray with baking paper and set aside.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate and coconut oil together on medium power for 60 seconds. Stir, then continue heating in 30-second bursts until smooth. (Alternatively, melt using the double boiler method on the stovetop.)
  3. Pour the melted chocolate onto the prepared tray and spread evenly with a spatula.
  4. Quickly sprinkle over pretzels, M&Ms and mini marshmallows, pressing them lightly into the chocolate so they stick.
  5. Place the tray in the fridge or freezer until completely set (about 30 minutes).
  6. Once firm, break into pieces. Store in an airtight container in the fridge or package in cellophane bags with ribbon for gifting.

Notes

Top Tips

  • Toppings: Swap M&Ms for Smarties, jelly lollies, popcorn or chopped nuts.
  • Mix it up: Try dark or white chocolate or even a combination of 2, instead of milk chocolate.
  • Festive touch: Decorate with red/green M&Ms for Christmas, heart-shaped lollies for Valentine’s Day or pastel ones at Easter.
  • Make-ahead: Bark can be made up to a week in advance and stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
