Baked Apple Crumbles
These Baked Apple Crumbles are one of my favourite quick desserts when I want something warm, cosy and comforting without spending ages in the kitchen. Soft baked apples brushed with cinnamon butter and topped with a crunchy golden crumble… honestly, it’s hard to beat.
Made with just one apple and a handful of pantry staples, this simple air fryer dessert is perfect for busy nights when you want “something sweet” but don’t feel like baking a full cake or crumble. And if you love cosy desserts like this, you might also enjoy my Chocolate Self-Saucing Pudding.
I started making these Baked Apple Crumbles on those nights when I wanted dessert but couldn’t justify the effort (or dishes) that come with making a full apple crumble. One apple, a quick crumble topping and the air fryer does the rest. Simple, comforting and exactly the kind of dessert I love during the cooler months.
This recipe makes the perfect dessert for two, but you can easily double or triple it for the whole family. Serve them warm with vanilla ice cream, custard or a dollop of creamy yoghurt for a lighter option.

These Air Fryer Baked Apple Crumbles are an easy dessert for two made with cinnamon apples, oats and buttery crumble topping. Oven instructions included.
Ingredients
- 1 apple (I used Granny Smith)
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tbsp brown sugar or raw sugar
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp rolled oats
- 1 tbsp plain flour
- 1 tbsp desiccated coconut
Instructions
- Peel and core the apple then slice it in half from top to bottom.
- Carefully slice a small piece off the rounded back of each apple half so they sit flat while cooking.
- In a small bowl, combine the melted butter and cinnamon.
- Brush some of the cinnamon butter over the cut side of the apples.
- Add the rolled oats, flour, coconut and sugar to the remaining butter mixture and stir until combined.
- Spoon the crumble mixture over the flat side of the apples, gently pressing it down slightly.
- Follow cooking instructions below.
- Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, custard or thick Greek yoghurt.
- Place the apples into the air fryer basket or tray.
- Cook at 170°C for 16–18 minutes or until the apples are soft in the centre and the crumble is golden.
- Place the apples into a small baking dish.
- Bake at 160°C fan-forced for 25–30 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crumble is golden.
Notes
Top Tips:
- Apple choice: Granny Smiths, Pink Lady or Jazz apples hold their shape well, but use whatever apples you have on hand. A great excuse to use up some apples from the fruit bowl!
- Make it gluten free/dairy free: Swap butter for coconut oil or dairy-free butter and use GF oats, flour or quinoa flakes.
- Change the flavour: Add chopped pecans or walnuts or a drizzle of maple syrup to the crumble for extra texture and sweetness.
- Breakfast version: Serve with Greek yoghurt and a sprinkle of granola for a cosy morning treat.
- Serving size: I find half an apple is the perfect portion per person.
