Feel Good Green Smoothie

I started making this green smoothie last winter where I was feeling tired, run down and honestly just needed to get my zing back and wanted to look after myself a little better.

This Feel Good Green Smoothie is the perfect pick-me-up for cooler months. Fresh, zesty and packed with immune-boosting ingredients.

This smoothie has become one of my favourite healthy breakfast recipes for busy mornings. It’s fresh, creamy and packed with nourishing ingredients like spinach, avocado, cucumber and fruit to help you feel refreshed and ready for the day ahead.

I love having recipes like this on hand when mornings feel rushed and I need something quick that still makes me feel good. You can even prep freezer bags ahead of time which makes it perfect for busy weeks. If you are looking for more smoothie ideas, you might also enjoy my Berry Smoothie.

The best part? It doesn’t taste overly “green” at all. The banana, orange and coconut water make it naturally sweet and refreshing while the ginger gives it the loveliest fresh kick.

Notes

TOP TIPS:

Freeze your bananas first: Frozen banana makes this smoothie extra creamy and cold without needing loads of extra ice.

Prep smoothie freezer packs ahead of time: Freeze the fruit and veggies in ready-to-go bags so busy mornings are as simple as tip, blend and go.

Boost the protein: Add vanilla protein powder, Greek yoghurt or hemp seeds to help keep you fuller for longer.

Use frozen spinach to reduce waste: Freeze leftover spinach in snap lock bags so you always have some ready for smoothies without worrying about it going soggy in the fridge.

Brighten the flavour with citrus: The orange and lime help balance the greens beautifully while adding a fresh burst of flavour and vitamin C.

No lime? No problem: Swap the lime for lemon or simply add a little extra orange for the same fresh citrus flavour.

Make it extra refreshing: Add a few fresh mint leaves for a bright fresh flavour that pairs beautifully with the cucumber and lime.

Ease into green smoothies slowly: If you’re new to green smoothies, start with a little less celery and ginger then build up as your tastebuds adjust.

Winter wellness boost: Ginger, citrus and spinach make this such a lovely nourishing smoothie during winter when you want something fresh while still giving your body a boost.

Keep smoothie ingredients ready to go: Freeze banana slices with a little lemon, lime or orange juice to help prevent browning and keep smoothie prep simple.
